Right before TNNA, the first issue of Handknit Heroes, the world's first graphic novel for knitters, arrived in my mailbox. Imagine a comic book featuring teenagers with superpowers, a mother who owns a yarn shop... its pretty cool. Of course I ordered some for the shop - it looked like a perfect addition for us.
In the meantime, Annette & I made our annual trek to TNNA and right before we headed home, I saw the Handknit Hereos table and had a chance to meet and chat with creator and writer Stephanie Bryant and illustrator Marc Olivet. We had such a good time that I invited Stephanie to come preview Handknit Heroes at the shop and on Wednesday, Stephanie came by, joined us at the table and told us all about how Handknit Heroes came to be.
She brought our copies of the comic with her, and we sold completely out of them (and the extras she brought with her) by the end of the night! Not to worry though, we've ordered more and they should arrive early next week so if you want to grab a copy you still can. It was a wonderful evening and a good time was had by all. It was great having Stephanie join the circle and we can't wait to have her back the next time she's in LA.
